The Mighty Pecan Pie, an American Tradition
We have a hunch that our customers love our pecan pies - and we ship them all over the country! - because the taste is as American as, well, apple pie. Pecans are native to North America, growing as far north as Illinois and as far south as Alabama and finding their way into many classic recipes we know and love today.
Just as irresistible, oven-fresh pies bring everyone together over the dinner table, the humble beginnings of the pecan pie are a result of classic American home bakers coming together to create something special. Although some rumors have the oldest recipe starting in a French patisserie, the earliest known American pecan pie recipe was sent in by a Texan woman to be included in a St. Louis church charity cookbook in 1898.

Storing, Heating, and Preparing Priester's Pies
Priester's pecan pies freeze beautifully for up to one year. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight, always making sure refrigerated foods remain chilled below 40°F.
Heating instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C)
- Place thawed pie in the oven for 30 minutes, or until the center is warm
- Careful not to crisp your crust! Ovens vary, so if your crust is browning, wrap in foil to protect it while the pie bakes
